Writing Celebration!

As a conclusion to our opinion writing unit, the children were able to celebrate by sharing their pieces with others.  Each child also created a persuasive poster based on their book/character.  The second graders were stationed in the library while visitors from around the school stopped in the check out and hear their amazing pieces.  I am so proud of my writers who were certainly able to convince others to check our their books!

Geometry

As an introduction to our geometry unit, the children explored shape attributes by constructing 3-10 sided shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks.  This helped them to explore sides, vertices, and angles (while also having a little treat).

Ladybugs

During our living things unit we have been able to observe ladybug larvae and the journey taken to an adult ladybug.  Here is a picture of one hatching from a pupa on Friday!

It was not red like everyone expected!

Beauty and the Beast

On Monday, we were able to see a preview of Beauty and the Beast.  It was simply amazing!  I hope that some families were able to check it out this weekend.

Easter

On Thursday we had a fun day celebrating Easter with crafts, stories, and a movie.  There's no better way to celebrate than with your children :)  I am one lucky teacher!!!
