Mini-THON

On Friday, Marion Walker held our Mini-Thon which supports The Four Diamonds Fund and its fight against pediatric cancer. We engaged in many activities for this great cause.  It was wonderful to see all the children so dedicated!  They really were able to experience the power of caring for others.  In addition to these pictures, I recorded a few quick videos which you can find in the weekly email.

We started the day by making cards for children in the hospital.

We then went to the gym to participate in stations.  Here is Logan getting a tattoo!

We decorated luminary bags :)
We also decorated Thon cookies with LOTS of icing!

We took adorable pictures in the photobooth.

We had such a fun day!!!!

Look at those smiles!

After the school was done with their dance session, Pittsburgh Superstars performed some stunts.

Spike even popped in for a visit at the end of Thon.  What an amazing day, Marion Walker raised over 5,000 dollars!

The children have been busy sharing and discussing their biography projects.  We are learning so much about these famous individuals.  Keep a lookout for additional pictures coming soon!

Writing Celebration

We worked very hard on writing numerous opinion letters about our favorite books.  The children choose their favorite piece to share at our celebration on Friday.  We had quite a turnout! The kids took it very seriously and did such a FABULOUS job!  Thank you to all that could attend.

I missed snapping a shot of a few children as they were consistently crowded by several visitors.  I will be sure to upload a picture of those kiddos this week. All of our pieces and projects will be placed in their second grade portfolio, which will be coming home soon, as the end of the year is quickly approaching! We will wrap up the year with our poetry unit :)
