Mini-Thon

We had a blast on Friday engaging in Mini-Thon which supports the Four Diamonds Fund.

And were amazing by the stunts of Pittsburgh Superstars!

As a school we raised $3,550.20!!!!  Great work everyone!

Awards

I was able to attend the Young Author Contest Awards Ceremony to support the three winners from our classroom!  I am so proud of all my writers, and loved seeing Amelia, Nathan, and David be celebrated for their success.

Goodbye Ladybugs!

After watching, observing, and researching our ladybugs as they changed from a larva, to pupa, and finally adult ladybug, we had to let them go explore the world!  We wrote about our wishes for them, and read those aloud as we watched them fly away.  We also used this time to do our Earth Day scavenger hunt which was postponed due to the rain.

Writing Celebration!

As a conclusion to our opinion writing unit, the children were able to celebrate by sharing their pieces with others.  Each child also created a persuasive poster based on their book/character.  The second graders were stationed in the library while visitors from around the school stopped in the check out and hear their amazing pieces.  I am so proud of my writers who were certainly able to convince others to check our their books!
