Holiday Fun!

We spent some quality time together in our classroom, enjoying the fun of the holiday season.

We had an assembly where Mrs. Amy revealed our grand total for the Coin Drive.  We donated just over $3,200!!!  Good job Marion-Walker!  We presented the checks to the YMCA and Women's Resource Center.

Mrs.  Carroll engaged the kids with her own version of the 12 Days of Christmas-exercise style!

We listened to the brass choir play some beautiful Christmas songs :) Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Santa!

Santa, Mrs. Claus, and two elves surprised us with a visit to our classroom!

They read us a Christmas story....

Brought us gifts....

We had a great time together!  Can you spot Santa in there?

Spirit Week

In order to keep kids motivated in collecting money for the Kids to Kids Coins of Caring Drive, we had  spirit week, with a fun theme for each day.

Character Day

Holiday Sweaters

Twin Day

Career Day- we had a variety of jobs from several teachers, a DJ, a scientist, a waitress, a basketball player, to a store employee.

Pirate Day
On Pirate Day, we had game stations in the cafeteria where we played pirate-related games, and  even got to come up with our own pirate name.

Elfie

Elfie found some interesting locations around the classroom in order to keep an eye on the kiddos and send Santa a good report.  The kids worked very hard to be on their best behavior :)

Josh & Gab

On Monday we had an anti-bullying assembly.  Josh & Gab took popular music and put a fun twist on them, changing the words into lyrics related to kindness and friendship.  The kids rocked out and had a blast!

Elfie

A letter and book arrived from Santa explaining how he sent a magical elf to our classroom to watch over the children in the days before Christmas.  We didn't know where our elf was, but that didn't stop the children from going on a hunt during indoor recess!
We already love leaving notes for our elf :)

The children voted on the name Elfie, and the next morning she appeared in our hot air balloon, watching over the children as they worked hard throughout the day.

Holiday Concert

The kids did an AMAZING job at the holiday concert!  I was so proud of them!  This is one of my favorite nights of the year, it's always a joy to see the children perform when they have been working so hard :)  I wish I could have taken more pictures, but it was very busy backstage!

Christmas Tree :)

Our classroom is all decorated and ready for the holiday season!  We like turning off the classroom lights, and enjoy the tree during read aloud.

Parole Officer Visit

Mrs. McCool, a parole officer, came in to discuss the value of her job within the community.  The children learned about how her job helps keep people safe and were able to see (and experience) some of the tools that an officer uses.  Ask your child about what they learned :)

Veteran's Day

In order to celebrate our brave veterans, we started off with an assembly which discussed the different branches.  Ayla and Cooper made a wonderful sign with Miss Conway, which was held proudly for our veterans to see.  Mr. Sapanaro then entered our classroom and discussed his experiences in the military. Thank you veterans!!!!!!

Safety Assembly

Officer Phil came to school and taught the children about safety at home and around the community.  He discussed the importance of knowing our addresses and phone numbers, being safe on the internet, as well as the idea of strangers.  He used magic tricks in his presentation, and Emma was even asked to come up and assist!

Mr. Hearn's Visit

Mr. Hearn, who works at Penndot, came into class and spoke to the children about his job.  He taught them about building roads, fixing roads, and keeping people safe.  He brought in materials that are used, signs, and even a plow truck!  Each child had the opportunity to climb in!  Thank you Mr. Hearn for enriching the children's knowledge of tools and technology in the community!
