Writing Celebration

We worked very hard on writing numerous opinion letters about our favorite books.  The children choose their favorite piece to share at our celebration on Friday.  We had quite a turnout! The kids took it very seriously and did such a FABULOUS job!  Thank you to all that could attend.

I missed snapping a shot of a few children as they were consistently crowded by several visitors.  I will be sure to upload a picture of those kiddos this week. All of our pieces and projects will be placed in their second grade portfolio, which will be coming home soon, as the end of the year is quickly approaching! We will wrap up the year with our poetry unit :)

Evan had a very special helper!

Earth Day

After discussing the importance of Earth Day and taking care of our planet all year long, we went on a scavenger hunt exploring living organisms, plants, and even picked up litter on our playground.

Cameron doing his owl call, sooooo cute!

Geometry

The kids have been busy learning all about geometry, specifically attributes of 2D and 3D shapes.  We explored angles, vertices, parallel lines, right angles, and sides while created shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks.  The story The Greedy Triangle inspired our designs.

Puppy Party

When I learned we had won the puppy party, I imagined a box full of little pups, although we were surprised to see only one puppy enter our classroom on Friday.  We weren't at all disappointed because Meredith was so sweet, silly, and cuddly.  The kids absolutely loved this and were even writing her notes during the visit.  We rubbed her belly, threw her toys, gave her treats, and watched her frolic around our classroom. But oh my, trying to give all 23 kids the chance to interact with Meredith was a little bit of a challenge ;)

I am so proud of our class that worked very hard to help collect items for pets in need, just like Meredith, who we really came to love <3 Families thank you for your support!

We learned a little bit about where Meredith from PAWS employee Mrs. Clapper.

She immediately jumped on our comfy chair

She was instantly drawn to Korey

Just wandering around....

Amryn gave her a treat

We very quickly tired her out!

Belly rubs!!!!

I can't believe we got her to sit so nicely for this picture.

I decided to turn it into a Puppy Popsicle Party in the afternoon.  It was the perfect day for it.
