Mini-Thon Kickoff

PJ and the crew from The Zoo joined us for our Mini-Thon kickoff assembly.  The kids were able to learn about the purpose of the activity,  the importance of The Four Diamonds Fund, and heard from individuals who have been personally affected by cancer.
Spike even joined in to pump the kids up!
Some fun games were played and Anna even won our class a pizza party.
Of course we practiced dancing our hearts out!
Mrs. F was really getting down :)

Past Day

As you know, as a closure to our unit which focused on the past, we celebrated Past Day!  The second grades switched stations and learned about school, transportation, and entertainment long ago through hands-on experiences.  We had a blast!  There was a newspaper boy, a pink lady, a biker, a pirate, Davy Crockett, as well as a few hippies and 80's girls.  It was funny walking though the hallways, because people were very curious about the mix of looks in our class :)

Our Cafeteria Reward

We earned another reward for excellent behavior in the cafeteria, "The Fancy Lounge."  Although since it was our Past Day in second grade we renamed it appropriately :)

Dr. Seuss Week

Last week, we celebrated Dr. Seuss with tons of literacy activities, read alouds, and of course exciting themes to show our love of reading and learning!
We read The Tooth Book, discussed dental health, and dressed like a dentist or a fairy.

Mrs. Martin came in and read I Can Read With My Eyes Shut :) Thank you Mrs. Martin!

Mrs. Yontosh read Oh, the Places You Can Go! and discussed the importance of education.

Circus Day- we had many adorable clowns!  Hope and Braiden were even asked to participate in our MW circus.

We showed appreciation for Fox in Sox by letting loose with a dance party in the cafeteria.

Mrs. Amy and Keri Carroll (the star of Annie) read aloud  Horton Hears a Who and discussed how reading lead to their interests  in theater and acting.
