Catching a Leprechaun!

On Wednesday, our special was cancelled so this was the perfect opportunity for the children to put their engineering skills to use when they planned and built a trap to catch a leprechaun that had been sneaking around our classroom.  They were so creative using lots of rainbows, glitter, and notes to attract the leprechaun.

Dr. Seuss Week

For Read Across America week we engaged in tons of fun activities inspired by many fabulous books!
We started our week with an assembly lead by PAWS, which taught us all about the importance of animal shelters and inspired us to begin collecting donations to help out.

The Grinch even stopped by :)

In our pjs, with our stuffed animals ready for a hallway parade.

We even brought our pets to the assembly.

This panda is too cute!

In our favorite colors and killer shades celebrating One Fish, Blue Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.
The Cat in the Hat came in for a read aloud.

Wacky Wednesday!

After reading Which Pet Should I Get? The children selected four pets, and surveyed their peers about which was their favorite.  They took this data to create a bar graph and answered questions interpreting their graphs.

Clyde Peelings Reptileland came on Friday for a super exciting and information packed assembly!  We started off with a baby crocodile!

A tortoise- one of the longest living reptiles.

A lizard

Two adorable geckos- they were crawling all around our presentator.  The kids had to be reminded to calm down their excitement as it could scare the animals.

Gila monster- although they were so incredibly small and slow that many wonder why they were named a monster.  We learned that despite their appearance and speed, they are venomous.

Western Diamond Back Rattle Snake, ahhhh!

Hard to see, but this was a shiny Brooks Kingsnake.

For the grand finale, a HUGE boa constrictor.

All wrapped up!
