Ladybugs :)

We were able to watch our ladybugs start in the larva stage, form into pupas, and hatch into adult ladybugs.  We practiced our science skills by keeping a ladybug journal, and making thorough observations each day.

We released them outside and patiently waited for them to fly away :)

Goodbye ladybugs!

In order to learn more in-depth information about our ladybugs, children were split into three groups to research and become experts on the idea.  This group discovered the diet and habitat of ladybugs.

Ladybug behavior was also explored.

As well as aspects of how our ladybugs look....

Our experts presented the interesting information to their classmates.  No better place than outside with our ladybugs!

Earth Day

Although, I didn't get many pictures of this activity, the children we able to celebrate Earth Day with many fun, hands-on activities including a scavenger hunt.  Children had to search outside for different elements in nature.  They had a blast!

Plays

As a closure to our unit which focused on living things, the children practiced and presented a play about a family of otters.  This helps them practice their fluency while reading.  It is also a chance for them to show their creative sides :)

Field Trip

On Monday, we went on our field trip to Eisenhower Auditorium to see Dinosaur Zoo Live!  We were amazed by the incredible lifelike dinosaur puppets! Unfortunately, we did not get to enjoy the park or a walk around campus due to the rain, but we still had a lot of fun!
